Bingo Hideout has great news for all the ladies out there, certainly if you have over-indulged during the Christmas festivities. If you are like the girls in the office (especially Charlotte) and have a more rotund bum than previously from all the mince pies and Quality Street, or your Christmas pud has settled firmly on your derrière then the research carried out by the brains of Oxford University will come as very good news. After much testing and we assume much bottom staring the boffins at Oxford have declared that having a big booty is actually good for you!
They like big butts and they don’t lie ….
Wey-hey, move over J-Lo because all us big bootied bingo babes are going to be giving you a run for your money – well maybe not a run, maybe a leg stretch on the settee! The news isn’t all good sadly from the Oxford oddbods, because they have also declared that if you have a chubby middle then that isn’t very good for you at all and is actually a possible pre-cursor to heart disease or diabetes. It’s no good hanging from the living room door frame and hoping that the fat will slide to your nether regions, unfortunately it’s not like butter falling off a warm knife. If it’s glued to your middle then the only way to shift it is to cut your fat intake and exercise more – yuggh! Exercise such a dirty word.
All of us girls with the big bottoms however can now delight in our chubbier backsides, safe in the knowledge that we may look like cellulite city in a bikini but our hearts and arteries are in good nick! So if you are a bit of a chubster and want to be able to give as good as you get when next time someone states that you have a bottom the size of a small continent, then you can quote Dr Konstantinos Manolopoulos – a researcher at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism – words very proudly. He states that “body fat distribution is important to health” and gos on to explain “it is only very recently that thigh fat and a larger hip circumference have been shown to promote health, that lower body fat is protective by itself.”
It is shape that matters – and as far as health is concerned, being ‘pear-shaped’ is much preferable to being ‘apple-shaped.
In an ideal world, the more fat around the thighs the better – as long as the tummy stays slim”.
