Bucky Bingo

Interesting news from the Shipleys site this week; after a time with St Minver, their bingo site and now their casino site has now gone offline while its poker site remains up and running. As you may already know, Shipleys like Bucky Bingo is one of the few independent bingo hall operators in the UK and, with it’s smaller status it would come as no surprise to hear that one of its halls had shut. It is however a shock to learn of another website shutting down, since the trend for online bingo is growing every day.

Shipleys has ten bingo halls around the UK from Cardiff to Birmingham as well as separate poker and casino sites under its belt. The move to take down all their sites leaving only a page which reads coming soon is an unusual one but since it has been rumoured that Shipleys are in discussions with another software provider, we wonder if this temporary shift is in fact part of the shift we are seeing away from St Minver’s platform to other bigger networks.

Many are moving on

Just in the last few weeks we have seen two major brands move from St Minver to Virtue Fusion where there are more varied games on offer and more rooms to play in. Since Shipley’s pride themselves at offering luxury bingo games both online and in the hall, we wonder if the lack of manoeuvrability for players on this platform is behind the decision to take down these sites. As their live halls offer spacious venues with heated smoking shelters and TED hand held machines allowing players the maximum game play possible during any session, it’s quite understandable that as a company they would want to offer the most in choice across the board especially as it’s Bingo that got them started.

Time for a rethink?

Having lost out on more big name brands than they have taken on of late, maybe it’s time for St Minver to have a change of direction and think about the facilities they offer players and operators. After all as players of online bingo all we want is choice and good fun, and if it’s clear there’s more of this on offer through a site using Parlay software such as those hosted by a different network it’s clear where we’re going to go if the brand we play with doesn’t go there first.
