Unusually and defying all the recent trends, ITV bingo site closed on the 3rd May. Sadly we are all now becoming resigned to the fact that there will be an almost weekly news report that yet another high street bingo hall has closed its doors for good, however when an online bingo site such as ITV bingo closes it starts to immediately ring alarm bells. The following email was sent to all ITV bingo account holders informing them of the closure:
“ITV Bingo is being withdrawn as a service on 3rd May 2009. We have very much appreciated having you as a player hope you have enjoyed the experience. You can continue to play until the service closes on 3rd May. After this date please proceed to cash out any remaining funds in your ITV Play Account as soon as possible, as we will be closing the accounts at the end of October 2009. Any unclaimed monies at that time will be donated to charity.
Please note that any outstanding bonuses will expire at approximately 05:00 UK time on 1st May, 2009. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
The email does not really explain why the ITV Bingo site has closed, but it is believed that once the decision to stop broadcasting the Bingo Night Live television programme that the death knell was sounded for ITV bingo. The closure therefore of ITV Bingo should not alarm the online bingo fraternity, as financial reports still show that online gaming in particular bingo are doing extremely well considering the global economic crisis.
If you were an account holder at ITV Bingo then it is recommended that you cash out as soon as possible, and as a suggestion why not cash out and transfer any funds you have to Party Bingo. Party Bingo’s parent company Party Gaming powered the ITV site so you can use your old ITV Bingo user name and password to access the Party Bingo site – no need to open a new account, just fund it and you are able to play online bingo games again immediately.
