There have been reports in the press that a Gala Bingo hall located at Pallion New Road, Sunderland have had to sack an employee and suspend one other as a result of an investigation into possible bingo game fixing. The reports all indicate that there is a suspicion that a male bingo caller at the Gala Bingo hall had somehow managed to interfere with the random number generator to fix a bingo game. Allegations made against the man in his forties and his girlfriend, who is also thought to be employed by Gala Bingo, are that the male employee of Gala Bingo fixed the RNG bingo machine with a secret code so that his girlfriend could win the High 5 game which would have paid out a £10,000 jackpot if they were successful.
The reports in the press claim that suspicious Gala Bingo staff raised the alarm when the lady also implicated in the alleged theft won the bingo game, a full investigation was launched immediately by the Sunderland Gala bingo management team, which resulted in the bingo caller being instantly dismissed and the female member of staff being put through a company disciplinary procedure. Gala Bingo have reported the alleged scam to the Gaming Commission and also to Sunderland Police, who are now investigating to see if there is any criminal charges to be brought.
