Online bingo spam
Online bingo spam

One of the best ways to keep on top of the current top promotions and offers at your favourite online bingo site is to sign up for the weekly email newsletter. However, with more filters and protection packages blocking emails automatically, you may not be receiving the updates you have signed up for.

There are many reasons why the blockers on emails have become so tight recently. On the whole, it's an attempt to deflect the amount of spam you receive, so there's more unfettered space in your inbox for the mail that you do want. Even though you might have signed up for these newsletters, your account won't register the fact until you allow the sender through the blocker, usually by adding their address to an “approved” list (or removing from an “unapproved” list.)

Withdrawing cash from online bingo
Withdrawing cash

As a follow up to the latest forum discussion regarding the cost of withdrawing winnings from sites, we have been looking around to see what the consensus is on this contentious issue and those that surround it.

We all know that only depositing players are eligible to play in most tourneys and to win the jackpots (on most sites) but how much more should you need to deposit on top of your game play in order to get at your fair share of the pot?

Changes to online bingo?
Changes to online bingo?

In the light of the recent announcement by Gerry Sutcliffe that the restrictions on B3 machines in live bingo clubs are to be lifted allowing for four £500 pound prize machines in each club, we at the Hideout have been wondering how this will affect online bingo?

Although the Government have not shifted on the double taxation burden that the live bingo industry is reeling from, they have relented on the restriction of slot machines, meaning that more live players can enjoy larger payouts at every session. We have considered the positives for the live bingo industry already but what does it mean for players of online bingo? Will the numbers of live players increase now more money is in the pot, and will that make a difference to the numbers we see as a result of a flagging industry?

Online bingo choice
Online bingo choice

As all regular players of online bingo are aware, there are an ever-increasing number of sites to play on in the UK. Giving us more choice than we know what to do with, these sites each have their own strong points yet some become more popular than others.

This week we've been wondering about how players come to choose the site or sites they play on. It's common for players of online bingo to have a favourite, which they play bigger games on but what are the benefits to playing on more than one site?

Loyalty Schemes

So many of the sites around have loyalty schemes to keep players on site and welcome bonuses offered on each can be over and above 100% when you first deposit. This can work in terms of keeping a player using the site generally, but in terms of enjoying the game and all the bonuses available it's not unusual for players to play on other sites in addition to their main site.

Online bingo PJPs
Online bingo PJPs

Progressive jackpots - otherwise known as PJPs - are all about the increasing amount of money you can win in a game. The cool thing about a PJP is that is starts at a set amount and grows with every deposit until someone wins the lot.

Similar to the rollover concept, PJPs are an exciting pot to play for as you might win the minimum but you also have an equal chance of hitting it bigger than you could have wished for as the game progresses.

Generally speaking in order to win a PJP you will have to get a full house (in a 90-ball game) or complete the coverall (in a 75-ball game), but of course it can be done and the more you play, the bigger the windfall if you win.

Excitement Grows

With these types of games as the time passes so the excitement grows. Playing any time after the jackpot hits the mark you're holding out for (whether it's £1,000 or £10,000) becomes a challenge to win and even if you don't you might pick up the pot on the next time round.

Live bingo announcement
Live bingo announcement

After many months of speculation, Gerry Sutcliffe has sent a written announcement to the House of Commons concerning the future of live bingo halls. This proposal states that the Government are going to change the rules that govern the number of B3 slot machines that are allowed in live bingo clubs.

The proposal to allow an additional four machines per club redresses the burden that double taxation has put on live bingo clubs. This change comes as a result of months of consultation on behalf of the clubs and will give the industry the lift that it has desperately needed since the change in the law in 2007.

UK No.1 for online bingo
UK No.1 for online bingo

Just in the last week it has come to light that the UK online bingo market is the most intensively developed in the world with only 17 sites in 2004 growing to 243 in 2008. Industry expert Joe Saussure-Smith, who has worked in the online gaming industry for more than a decade, has observed this and as a result the UK's online bingo industry has been earmarked as the major growth area within online gaming at the moment.

Second to the UK, Spain is the next big growth area for the online bingo sector, with 40 Spanish halls emerging in the last year from only 6 at the beginning of the year. This huge response to online bingo is causing many operators to want to become involved with launching Spanish-speaking sites. In the very near future, this is going to be made easier with the launch of Parlay 5, the latest in international translation bingo software. These two growing markets could in the foreseeable future be linked directly and expanded simultaneously.
