A story published in the Blackpool Gazette reports that Lynn Barnes from Blackpool has been sent to prison after being found guilty of stealing £30,000. The money that was stolen was cash received from clients, who believed they were investing in property abroad; however their cash was frittered away by the guilty woman for personal expenses, including playing online bingo at Tombola.

The Gala Bingo hall in Feltham recently hosted the regional 2011 Gala Bingo Championship semi-finals. The event, according to the Hounslow Chronicle attracted over 3,000 players from across the south east, with all those taking part hoping to win a place in the final. The Gala Bingo Championship final 2011 will be held in Gibraltar and will see the overall winner walking away with a massive prize of £100,000.

Ursula Nevin has achieved a lot of press inches for being a bingo winner turned bad, after being jailed for her part in receiving stolen goods that were taken from shops during the Manchester riots. Nevin’s name has been dragged through the mud for her role (albeit tiny part) in the shocking riots that hit many parts of the UK at the beginning of August. Nevin has since been released from jail after a successful appeal, and will now complete 75 hours of unpaid community work instead of the custodial sentence that had originally been meted out.
