A Gala Bingo hall in Kettering was the scene of a shocking robbery where the Gala Bingo staff were help captive and physically assaulted. Staff at the Gala Bingo hall were taken totally by surprise when they opened the door to the four ‘smartly dressed’ robbers, who then proceeded to take all three Gala Bingo employees in the hall at the time captive. The robbers were able to make off with a ‘substantial’ sum in cash once the Gala Bingo employees were tied up in the Wednesday morning raid.

All three hostages needed to attend Kettering General Hospital for treatment after their ordeal was over, though a report in the Northants Evening Telegraph stated that none of their injuries were serious and the two men and woman were later released. However all of the victims, according to a Gala Bingo spokesperson were" very shaken by the incident.
Police are now investigating and studying CCTV footage of the local area. They are also appealing for witnesses to come forward if they were in the area of the Gala Bingo Hall on Kettering High Street at the time of the robbery, which was carried out between 9.40am and 10.00 am. Chief Inspector Andy Collins made a statement saying that luckily incidents like the Gala Bingo hall robbery are very rare adding "We have a team of officers working flat out to catch the people responsible for this despicable crime”.
Local people have expressed their shock on hearing news of the robbery at their local Gala Bingo club, one local lady said Kettering was a ‘quiet place’, and spoke of her surprise that such an incident should have occurred at the bingo hall.
