Frome

Just when all the doom and gloom mongers have declared that the high street bingo halls are all closing and the death knell has been rung, yet another new bingo hall will soon open according to the ‘This is Somerset’ website. The new bingo hall will hopefully be housed in a former nightclub called Level One in the Kingsway Precinct in Frome, Somerset after an anonymous consortium acquired the 11 year lease.

It is hoped that the Kingsway Bingo Club will be open very soon and the bingo consortium are just awaiting official agreement and rubber stamping, due the latter part of April, from the Mendip District Council. It is felt that the official ok will be given as both Frome Town Council and Frome Police Department have given their approval after visiting the site.

The newly formed Kingsway Bingo Club consortium have spent the last four months clearing out the site which has been empty for almost a year after the nightclub licence was revoked and it was forced to close down due to an anti-social behaviour problem.

Frome is a quaint town in Somerset which is about 12 miles away from Bath and approximately 21 miles from Taunton, this beautiful town with cobbled streets is awash with historic buildings, restaurants and traditional shops and is famous for being the birthplace of Jenson Button. Should the consortium get the go-ahead they are hoping to create at least ten jobs for local people in the new bingo hall as well providing a much needed leisure service for the local people and surrounding villages. The new bingo hall team are anticipating the bingo club to be extremely popular with local people and as such are intending to open six days a week and a minimum of three afternoons. There are no other bingo halls in the close vicinity so there is no competition that could take potential players away from the proposed bingo hall.
