altMost of you will have come across the Joy of Bingo Network at some point, even if you weren’t aware of it at the time. They represent some of the U.K.’s most well-known sites, including Wink, Posh, RedBus, Tasty, BigBrotherBingo, 888Ladies and BingoStreet. Whilst they are always busy coming up with great promotional ideas for their members to enjoy, they also work hard at raising money for their chosen charity – Breast Cancer Care. They made a pledge to raise a minimum of £20,000 this year, and they’ve already overshot their target by more than 50%, and raised £31,274 so far, plus there’s still December to go!

During October 2012, all the sites ran a Pink Friday promotion, encouraging players to “think pink.” Every Friday, members had the opportunity to win as much as £5,000 by taking part in special 75-ball games. These games offered guaranteed jackpots with no profit being made by the network, and those who were lucky enough to win were certainly tickled pink by their good fortune.

Joy of Bingo say that Breast Cancer Care is a cause that’s very close to their heart, and that this “worthy cause was on the minds of many, that brought players together to raise substantial financial support” for the charity.

The first site to host a charity game was 888Ladies with their £1k Strawberry Tea. A top prize of £1,000 was up for grabs, and every £1 card sold raised a donation of £2 for BCC, meaning a win-win situation all round. At the same time, Joy of Bingo encouraged players via their website to read and submit true stories about those who’ve been touched in some way by the disease. They also encouraged them to visit the Breast Cancer Care website to get involved in local and national events, or apply for a fundraising pack.

It’s great to see an online bingo brand raising awareness and money for such a worthy cause. Let’s hope that Breast Cancer Care can now help even more people affected by the disease to get the best information, treatment and support possible.

Did any of our readers get involved in the Think Pink promotion, or take part in the £1k Strawberry Tea games? If so, do you think these should become regular events on Joy of Bingo sites? Perhaps you’d like to see more of your favourite brands running similar promotions to benefit other charities?
