A branch of Mecca Bingo in Bedford is turning a bright shade of yellow this month as it prepares to help raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal.
Mecca Bingo employees across the UK will be undergoing various challenges in return for sponsporship from friends, family, customers, and fellow employees throughout March 2013. Over in cyberspace, the brand’s online games site raises funds all-year-round by running a number of games in the Two Little Ducks rooms during the first week of every month, where 40p of every £1 goes to Marie Curie.
Marie Curie Cancer Care were also lucky enough to be picked as one of the six charities to benefit from ITV’s yearly Text Santa Appeal, and had already received over £870,000 thanks to the Appeal by the middle of February 2013. As a not-for-profit organisation, MCCC uses much of the proceeds raised by campaigns such as the Great Daffodil Appeal to continue funding the work of their nurses, who provide care free-of-charge to people suffering from terminal cancer and other illnesses, either at home or in Marie Curie hospices around the UK.
The charity also holds a number of events throughout the year that anyone can get involved in – even if they don’t like bingo (shock, horror!) With their 2013 Daffodil Raffle, ticket purchasers have the chance to win £10,000 cash or a brand-new Peugeot 107, as well as smart TVs, gift cards, and other cash prizes ranging from £20 to £500.
Are you a regular at your local Mecca Bingo hall? If so, do you plan to get involved in their Daffodil Appeal this March? Perhaps you go to a different club, and would like to see them doing more fundraising activities for charities in your area?
