altA few weeks ago, we told you about the happy tale of a Grimsby couple who’ve been together for the last eleven years and were finally able to make wedding plans after a surprise big win at their local Gala Bingo club. Luke and Sue Ferendon have been engaged since 2004, and finally tied the knot in a fun-filled ceremony earlier this month at the Oaklands Hall Hotel in Laceby. The 65 wedding guests were treated to a disco, a caricature artist, a candy cart, an outdoor assault course, and a delicious three-course meal. Sue’s two daughters from a previous relationship as well as the couple’s nine-year-old daughter, Tamzin, were all bridesmaids on the big day.

The duo’s ideal wedding was only possible after they scooped an amazing £12,164 while playing a national bingo game at the Gala Bingo club in Grimsby. They’ve been planning their special day for the past six months, before getting hitched on 13th July 2013. 42-year-old Sue says the day was “a dream come true” and that they were able to have “everything we could have wanted, including the sunshine.” She added that all of their money usually gets spent on the children and the family business so, without the whopping Gala Bingo win, they simply couldn’t afford to get married. Most of the winnings have now been spent on the wedding as well as the couple’s planned honeymoon in the Lake District.

The groom, Luke, actually spent the night before his wedding playing bingo with his friends, as he told reporters that he “couldn’t think of a better way to spend [his] last night as a single man” but admits that he sadly didn’t win a penny.

The couple won Gala’s jackpot with a stake of just £1, and since their lucky visit to the Grimsby club, they’ve become good friends with its operational manager, Sharon Smith, who was a special guest at the wedding. Sharon says it’s lovely to see what a difference the win has made to the couple’s lives and treated them to some Gala Bingo vouchers as a wedding present. Maybe, if luck strikes twice, they could see another windfall coming their way…
