altBack at the end of January 2013, Gala Bingo launched an exclusive scratch card. You might think it’s based on yet another reality TV or quiz show, or maybe a popular slot game, but no…. This card is celebrity-endorsed, and features everyone’s favourite, hairy-chested hero – David Hasselhoff. Furthermore, members of the site even had the chance to meet the Knight Rider, Britain’s Got Talent, and Baywatch star himself as part of an exciting promotion. Between Tuesday, 29th January and Sunday, 3rd February 2013, Gala Bingo gave their players the chance to be one of five lucky people who got to meet the Hoff at a VIP event in the UK’s capital. To qualify, members had to write in to the site, telling them why they felt they should get to meet him. Five of the most creative submissions were picked as the winners, whilst another five runners-up got to take home branded and signed Hoff merchandise.

As part of the promotion, players were required to spend £5 on David’s new and exclusive scratch card, which is his first foray into the world of online gaming. The card’s scenario is very romantic, and includes chocolates, champagne and roses, plus a ride on a love-boat. A very chisel-jawed David appears at the left-hand side, looking very dapper in a smart white shirt and black leather jacket. Cards cost from 20p up to 50p, and players need to match three symbols to win a prize. The highest paying symbols are the red convertible, paying out at x40, and a picture of a winking Hoff, which pays out at a mighty x2500. Another unique feature of this scratch card is the Prize Canal Bonus, which is triggered if you reveal three bonus heart symbols. If you’re lucky enough to unlock this bonus round, you’ll need to press ‘Play’ to activate a wheel. If David smiles, you move down the canal by one position and win the associated cash prize but, if he frowns, you lose one of your three lives. Every time you win, your lives are reset, and the bonus round ends when either you reach the top prize or all your lives have run out.

So, what does Mr. Hassellhoff have to say about his brand-new game? Well for starters, he told the press at the scratch card launch that he was proud to be introducing himself to the online gaming world with a “household name like Gala Bingo,” and that he thinks the game is great fun for himself, as well as the site and its members.
