Most of you probably haven’t even heard of Sherfield-on-Loddon, but a lucky player at Costa Bingo has now firmly put it on the map. Hampshire housewife, and grandmother-of-six, Sue Fox, recently won £100,000 in Costa’s big birthday promotion. Over 15,500 players took part in the game, but the finger of fate chose Sue as the winner of the juicy jackpot prize.
Normally, you’d expect a giant payout such as this to be a bit of a shock for the player in question, but Sue was in for the surprise of a lifetime as she wasn't even taking part online when her win occurred, but was actually down the pub, having pre-bought her game tickets. In a freak coincidence, Sue was also out celebrating a birthday as her grandson had just turned thirteen, and only got wind of her windfall whilst the party was in progress. Having checked her bank balance earlier in the day, and not noticing any changes, she was naturally dismissive of the win and so ventured into one of the Costa Bingo chatrooms to enquire who had won, where they confirmed the good news.
Mrs. Fox was gob-smacked and said, “I still don’t think it’s real.” “People like me do not win this kind of money.” Well, sorry to prove you wrong Mrs. Fox, but they do, and you have! When asked what she intends to spend the money on, she said that she planned to replace her current car, which is on its last legs, and pay for a trip with her husband to visit their son in Australia. Sue joined Costa in late 2011, and has been regularly spending £20 a week playing her favourite bingo games, alongside her two daughters. Just last month, she won £750, which we're guessing she thought was a lot until her recent jackpot. She’s planning to throw a small party with her friends to celebrate, and we can't say we blame her.
It looks like Costa’s third birthday was definitely a cause for celebration for this lucky player, and it’s only the second time they’ve offered such a big prize to their members. Did any of our readers take part in the Costa Birthday Bonanza? If so, did you win anything or is it a case of try again another time? We hope we’ve left you feeling inspired by Sue’s story, and remember - the next big win could be yours…
