altA bingo playing mum of two living in Scotland found inspiration from her bingo gaming to buy a Lotto ticket and went on to scoop the huge jackpot in excess of £4 million.

Sheila Davidson who considers herself more of a bingo player than a lottery fan, had a series of eight wins at a bingo night round at her friend’s house. She then decided to see if her lucky streak continued into other forms of gambling. The bingo games had won her no cash and were simply for fun, but they left Sheila feeling lucky and the next day she went straight to the nearest shop and bought a Lucky Dip Lotto ticket.

At the time of the draw on Saturday 11th February, Sheila was out enjoying herself at a local bar and didn’t check her numbers until later. When she did, she found it more believable that there was a problem with her computer than she had won the jackpot that totalled £4,520,123. However, after switching the machine on and off and asking her husband Duncan to confirm, it was 2am and the couple were still in denial. Driving off to pick up their daughter she too confirmed they had all six numbers and they definitely ‘weren’t going insane’ in Sheila’s own words.

This stroke of luck has come after a few years hardship for the Davidson’s as Sheila has recently overcome a rare form of mouth cancer. She now wants to give something back to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary who helped in her recovery. When asked what they’d like to spend their winnings on, their answers were quite typical. The lucky winner Sheila is after a new motor and Duncan is desperate to see his football team Manchester United play in a home game. With two children, it’s clear that the Davidsons will also spare some cash treating them and with £4.5 million to play with, the world really is their oyster.

Sheila bought her ticker from the G Pirrie shop on Main Street in Alford, Aberdeenshire and knew the Davidsons as they delivered their newspapers. The shop’s owner George and his wife Heather were ecstatic for the couple and Heather was reported saying ‘it couldn’t have happened to a nicer family’.

It’s interesting how Sheila’s big win is all down to some fun free bingo which was purely for social enjoyment. Winning the big jackpot will seriously change the Davidsons’ lives and all because of a homely bingo session.
