It seems as though the game’s fans are as mad about it as its developers are, and that’s why the team behind it – BitRhymes - has taken the unusual step of renaming themselves in tribute to their number one hit. The company, which is now known as Bash Gaming, are celebrating their success with their new title, at the same time as it’s been revealed that the app is currently on track to make over $55m gross in annual revenue.
In order to play, fans get daily credits just for logging in, but if more are required, they can purchase them for real money – although there are no cash prizes on offer – only awards, credits, and power-ups, meaning that it’s not considered to be a form of gambling.
Back in their heyday, Zynga were seen as the big boys in the online gaming market, delivering hit after hit with apps like Farmville, Words with Friends, and Zynga Poker. However, its bingo offering was not anywhere near as successful and, as part of the company’s cut-backs in October, development on Zynga Bingo was stopped.
The CEO of Bash Gaming, Sumit Gupta, thinks that they own their success to having just focused on one single game, which started life on Facebook, and having proved to be extremely popular, was then rolled out to iOS, followed by Android.
Based on Bingo Bash’s popularity, the US-based developers now plan to invest in more casino-style games, and Gupta is confident that his current team of 55 employees will double over the next year. In an effort to prepare for their new venture, they’ve recently hired Sean Eyen as their Vice President of Global Gaming. Mr. Eyen previously held roles with Liberty Media, Wagerworks, and Caesars Entertainment, before starting his own consultancy business.
