Men and online bingo Online bingo is often cited as a “women only” pastime, where men are few and far between. However, recent figures showing the growing popularity of Internet bingo have also confirmed that men make up a considerably larger percentage of total players than previously thought.
The fact that this gender attitude is changing can be seen in the decision by a lot of sites to have a link to casino games on their sister sites from the original online bingo site or vice versa. The fact remains that if you enjoy a flutter for a bit of fun, bingo has as much chance of winning as a roulette spin and a lot of the time the jackpots you can play for are far bigger compared to table games.

Withdrawing cash As a follow up to the latest forum discussion regarding the cost of withdrawing winnings from sites, we have been looking around to see what the consensus is on this contentious issue and those that surround it.
We all know that only depositing players are eligible to play in most tourneys and to win the jackpots (on most sites) but how much more should you need to deposit on top of your game play in order to get at your fair share of the pot?

Online bingo choice As all regular players of online bingo are aware, there are an ever-increasing number of sites to play on in the UK. Giving us more choice than we know what to do with, these sites each have their own strong points yet some become more popular than others.
This week we've been wondering about how players come to choose the site or sites they play on. It's common for players of online bingo to have a favourite, which they play bigger games on but what are the benefits to playing on more than one site?
Loyalty Schemes
So many of the sites around have loyalty schemes to keep players on site and welcome bonuses offered on each can be over and above 100% when you first deposit. This can work in terms of keeping a player using the site generally, but in terms of enjoying the game and all the bonuses available it's not unusual for players to play on other sites in addition to their main site.

Online bingo PJPs Progressive jackpots - otherwise known as PJPs - are all about the increasing amount of money you can win in a game. The cool thing about a PJP is that is starts at a set amount and grows with every deposit until someone wins the lot.
Similar to the rollover concept, PJPs are an exciting pot to play for as you might win the minimum but you also have an equal chance of hitting it bigger than you could have wished for as the game progresses.
Generally speaking in order to win a PJP you will have to get a full house (in a 90-ball game) or complete the coverall (in a 75-ball game), but of course it can be done and the more you play, the bigger the windfall if you win.
Excitement Grows
With these types of games as the time passes so the excitement grows. Playing any time after the jackpot hits the mark you're holding out for (whether it's £1,000 or £10,000) becomes a challenge to win and even if you don't you might pick up the pot on the next time round.

Self-exclusion (as can be seen on some of the more recent posts on the Bingo Hideout forum) is an interesting concept. As a way of preventing abuse of the game it is, on the face of it, an effective and sensible policy for any online gaming site to introduce.
Used as a form of self-help and as an approach to an acceptance of a problem, self-exclusion can be all a player needs to readjust their attitude to the game or get back on track with their finances. It can also come with its own set of problems, however, as do many player- centered approaches to gambling awareness.
Time out
The concept of self- exclusion works when a player becomes aware that his or her gaming is out of control and wishes to have time off from the game to cool down. This can come about as a result of a large expenditure or long hours in play, which are of course not necessarily the same thing. It can also come about as a result of a need for a simple break from the game where a player needs to commit time or money elsewhere for a while and needs to break the habit of play.

Bingo Hideout is sad to confirm that the 2008 Bingo Caller of the Year Competition has been suspended. Although the National Bingo Games Association has said the competition is to be reinstated as soon as possible in 'an exciting and further-reaching format', this is little consolation to those who were in the running this year. So why has this happened? Sadly this is yet another example of the multitude of changes that are currently rocking the stability of the live bingo world. This suspension has come about as a result of the wider reaching changes in the world of live bingo that we have been discussing at Bingo Hideout recently are having. |

Fairness in online bingo With the issue of fair games featuring in our forum this week, we’ve been investigating what measures online bingo sites have in place to make sure players get a fair game every time. A game of chance? Unlike in a game of live bingo, online bingo players are not able to see the numbers being drawn and have to trust in the site’s bingo software to run smoothly and fairly. There are numerous was in which your favourite site can ensure that all players get an equal chance to win including the use of random number generators. These are used for most online gambling games and provide the unpredictability that games such as online bingo rely on. Unlike betting on a horse, where a number of factors can influence the outcome of a race, playing a game of online bingo is entirely a game of chance and depends – unpredictability is an essential part of the fun. |

The live bingo industry is facing so many problems at the moment that we at Bingo Hideout are wondering whether the surprise announcement by Gala Bingo is the first sign of a turning tide for those companies with a lot currently invested in the live bingo industry. Effects of the non-negotiable taxes on bingo and increases in petrol after the blow of the smoking ban shouldn't be underestimated, and with the increasing availability of bingo through various new media the game is undergoing change that is unprecedented in its history since its last historical resurgence in the UK during the Second World War. |
