Men playing online bingo
Men & Bingo

I am male and I love online bingo - there I said it; but would I say the same thing sitting in the pub with a bunch of my mates? erm probably not to be honest. I don't know if its a male pride thing or whether it's just me but there seems to be a stigma attached to bingo, it's a place for women, a place for a girly night out, a place full of blue haired grannies where no man fears to tread. What makes bingo such a forbidden world?

I have sat around before now chatting with friends about playing online poker and have always gotten grunts of approval because as we all know poker is a mans game, a place filled with testosterone, lager and large cigars - where have these crazy ideas come from?

Single Male Heaven!

Let me tell you a little about me, typical 30 something male with an expanding waistline and a fondness for gadgets, I drifted into online bingo through a friend and must admit I was very cynical at first. I entered my first lobby with my head down trying not to be noticed. Well that lasted about 5 minutes when I realised the place was full of woman, I was in single male heaven, thirty women to every one man and I got to gamble at the same time - result!

I can now appreciate online bingo for what it is, it’s nothing to be ashamed of, it’s fun, you get to hang out with cool people and lot’s of single ladies who love the fact a man is sharing their favourite pastime. On top of this you get to win some serious amounts of money; when was the last time you saw anyone win nearly a million at online poker?

Spread The Word

So what do we need to do to spread the word? How can we get more men into bingo? What is stopping them?

Well I have started to realise the bingo industry has a lot to answer for. There are hundreds of sites out there and just about all of them seem to forget that men might want to play bingo. How many sites do you go on that are pink or some other truly awful pastel colour? most of them I bet. How many have promotion prizes geared towards women? do I really look like I want to win a hand bag?

Ladies Only?

On top of this we have sites that seem to forget men even exist, sites where even their name makes them a woman only zone; I thought sexism was a thing of the past but obviously not, so if we can’t beat them let’s join them.

Someone out there needs to take a stand and make a bingo site aimed at men, we want manly colours, a sexy female caller, football and car themed rooms, a lobby where we can be men and not have to watch our language; hell let’s even have tool kits for prizes, only then will bingo truly be a pastime men can talk about and openly enjoy!

mcdogs, AKA Lee Ashbourne is a regular online bingo player, you will catch him most nights playing at Wink Bingo & Bingo Cafe
